Message from the Committee Chair for Sustainability Initiatives
Under the corporate philosophy of “Always putting healthier lives first,” we will contribute to the realization of “healthy living” and “sustainable society” through the stable supply of high-quality, low-priced generic drugs.
Since its establishment in 1929, Sawai Pharmaceutical, which
was formerly a pharmacy, has developed its business to contribute to
people's healthy lives. Today, as one of the largest pharmaceutical
companies in Japan in terms of manufacturing and sales volume, Sawai
Pharmaceutical plays an indispensable role as an infrastructure company
for the stable delivery of high-quality, low-priced generic drugs.
Based on our corporate philosophy of “Patients First,” we
provide high-quality, low-priced generic drugs to improve patients'
access to affordable medical care with peace of mind (“improving
healthcare access”) and contribute to reducing the burden on healthcare
financing, which is becoming tougher year by year.
Traditionally, we have focused on the manufacture, sale, and
stable supply of generic drugs based on the belief that the lives and
health of patients are our priority. However, we need to work on
building relationships with various stakeholders because resources
provided by them in society, including customers, business partners,
employees, shareholders, local communities, and the global environment,
are essential for our business activities.
It is not easy to provide a stable supply of generic drugs
while at the same time taking environmental and social considerations
into account, but taking on these challenges also leads us to develop
human resources. In addition, our sustainable growth will help maintain
and create jobs and ensure the pharmaceutical security.
We will continue our efforts to contribute to the realization
of “healthy living” and a “sustainable society” through the stable
supply of high-quality, low-priced generic drugs. We would like to ask
all of Sawai's stakeholders for their understanding of our
sustainability initiatives and their continued support.
